The colour is very dark brown-red: the compact, firm finger thick foam is pale brown. The liquid is clear.
The smell is loaded with dry malt and some notes of yeast and coffee. It is somewhat metallic with a strange note of soap.
The carbonation is robust without being sharp. Good.
Some burned dry malts and a sweet-bitter tone from a mixture of hops dominates the taste. Splendid! The body passes quickly, leaving a long, malty aftertaste with a dry bitterness and a delicate note of salt, bitter almonds and tar.
A hazardous Christmas beer that still manages to share the complex tastes of the Swedish Christmas dishes.
