Sam Bond's is a great taproom located in a former Foundry in central Eugene. The atmosphere is great, with a well-appointed space and cool bits of ancient equipment and machinery found in the building. When I was there on a Saturday night, there was some nice low-key live music.
They had 11 beers on tap on my visit, and I had a flight of samplers. I was highly impressed with the quality of the beer; really, everything was to-style and highly tasty. Sam Bond's is absolutely worth a visit if you're swinging through Eugene.

Having tried their beers around town, I was expecting to be disappointed when I visited the tasting room the other day. In the famous words of Gomer Pyle: "surprise, surprise, surprise."
The brewery is located in a pretty cool refurbished ware house, with a sizeable stage area off to the left when you come in from 8th Ave. (should proably have expected something like this, based on my experiences over at the Garage). There is also a small bar as you come in the front door area, which is where I perched. The vibe here is laid back and kind of rustic, and seemed like a great place to hang out with a beer.
As for the beer, given my limited experience with their stuff at various festivals around town, I was not expecting a whole lot. However, to my complete shock, the java porter on nitro was excellent, the rye was outstanding and even the dubbel and filbert brown were quite good. The two IPA's I tried were also decent, but were over shadowed by the other beers I tried. I think they had something like 11 beers on tap the day I stopped by, and I ended up trying 8 of them (4 glass taster trays). Everything was pretty decent, with nary a dud in the bunch. The young guy tending bar was knowledgeable, and drinks orders came quick. Also, while the food menu here is limited, the crostini platter (three small crostinis) was surprisingly tasty.
There's no doubt I'll be back, and probably sooner rather than later. Can still taste that yummy rye beer...

Great place to go for music. The ale is sub par for Eugene.
