Pours black with a finger of khaki head. Head formation is foamy, with fair retention. A few dots of lacing are all that is left behind. Aroma has Belgian yeast esters, blood orange, and fig. Belgian stout notes are prominent, with the blood orange playing back fiddle. Flavor profile is very similar, with Belgian yeast esters, fig, plum, and chocolate coming to the front. Blood orange is present, but more towards the back of the palate. Mouth feel is slightly grainy, but otherwise smooth. The consistency thickens up nicely as the beer warms, peaking to a medium-thick, filling feel. Overall, the mash-up of Belgian style with blood orange is done well. While it doesn't stand out as a Belgian style, there are certainly hints of how the beer was influenced. Blood orange is a nice addition, but it is a soft-spoken note.
Served in a 12oz snifter.

22oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of fruitiness, chocolate, toffee and light coffee notes. Sweet fruit taste with chocolate, toffee and caramel.
