500ml bottle acquired at Le Village de la Biére in Strasbourg, France, and poured into a Swiss kitchenware glass in Zürich, Switzerland. Bottle is brown (thankfully) with a normal sealcap. This is a springbier, but the closest style on beeradvocate's inherently flawed categorization system is American Amber. Reviewed live.
A: Half finger head of slight cream and decent thickness. Good retention. Colour is somewhere between amber and copper. Hazy and nontransparent.
Sm: Very strong scent - so strong me broken nose picks it up from a metre away. Floral notes, amber hops, maybe some fruit esters obscured by the flowers. A good spring beer scent.
T: Very floral hoppy body over a full expressive barley foundation, with a climax that features some lime ester notes, followed by a grapefruit ester finish. Pleasant and refreshing, this is a well built spring beer. It even works for summer. Well balanced.
Mf: Nicely smooth and wet, with a warming alcohol effect in the stomach (though the alcohol is largely undetectable on the palate). Very complementary of the flavours in the body.
Dr: Relatively high ABV is well hidden by floral notes, which is a difficult feat to accomplish. A very drinkable and affordable springbeer, this will satisfy any beeradvocate and especially fans of the style. Also try Leffe's springbeer, which was just recently released.
