Confusing mix of flavors that don't come together well

Like the agave Amber, I question how this beer was marketed. Calling it a vanilla pale ale might have given it a little more mileage. I don't feel like the rye shone through in any discernible way. This beer was dominated by a vanilla aroma which did not fit with a beer featuring rye in the name

Pours a dark yellow color with an off white head that doesn't trail the glass. The smell had some hop in the front with some vanilla on the end. No rye scent that I could find. The taste was good with a balance between the sweet caramel from the malt and light citrus from the hops. Not bad but I didn't get any rye or wood flavors so it was a bit disappointing. Also it was rather thin.

Doesn't really taste like a rye IPA.

Very dark brown color. Good carbination, taste is malty, not hoppy enough. Mild after bite, not a top rated one. Overall OK.
