On tap at Swiftwater Brewing in Rochester, NY.
Pours a light black/dark brown, with a half inch foamy creamy head, and a lot of lacing.
Smells really strongly of Irish whiskey, some vanilla cream, smoke, and baker's chocolate.
At the lower ABV, I really do think it is hard for a beer like this to stand up to the barrel. They gave it a good go here, though- the Irish whiskey is very tasty, and the dominant flavor by far. The original porter still does show itself underneath- the chocolate and the smoke are still there.
This has a very, very creamy mouthfeel, with a lower level of carbonation, and a medium body.
This was definitely an interesting creation, but it seems like the beer was slightly lost underneath the barrel.
