On tap at Swiftwater Brewing Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark, deep black, with a small head, and just a little bit of lacing.
This one smells like charred oak, heavy roast, chocolate, and vanilla. Don't get a lot of whiskey on the nose.
This is definitely a major improvement over their regular Russian Imperial Stout. There's definitely some great dry charred oak flavors here, with some bittersweet vanilla, dark chocolate, and heavily charred roasted malt character. This is a bit of a bruiser, taste-wise, but it's not hard to drink. I don't get a whole lot of actual spirit character, which is just fine.
This is medium bodied. I wish it was way thicker and chewier, though- it doesn't have enough body for the style.
This is a definite improvement over the base, but not without problems.
