On tap at Swiftwater Brewing Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark murky and opaque brown, not black like I'd have expected, with a small head, and a good amount of lacing.
Smells like cocoa, Hershey's syrup, like smoke, and roasted malt.
This feels pretty muddled, unfortunately. The body is off- 8.7% is definitely on the low end for an imperial stout. It kind of has that "homebrew feel" that is kind of hard to define for me. There's not a ton of sweetness, as there a good roastiness to this, and a bit of powdery dark chocolate and slight coffee on the finish.
This is medium bodied, strangely un-creamy for the style, kind of powdery almost? There's a normal level of carbonation.
There's definitely something missing here- I think it needs a major overhaul to get to a good spot.
