This one pours a very dark black color, with no head or lacing. It looks oily and syrupy.
This smells very strongly of maple, with heavy duty bitters, hot bourbon, and chocolate syrup.
This seems to be trying to evoke a maple old-fashioned, in a somewhat messy way. It does a decent job at evoking it - especially an old fashioned made by a bartender who is real loose with the bitters. The bitters are super heavy here - it's tasty, but it's overwhelming. The blending in of actual syrup (rather than conditioning on syrup) has given this a very sweet and very syrupy feel, and the syrup is simultaneously overwhelming. There's a bit of chocolate, and maybe some oak, but I mainly get bourbon, probably from the bourbon blended in here. I really appreciate the uniqueness of this - a hybrid BA stout and cocktail, but it's just a bit messy overall.
This is thick and syrupy, with basically no carbonation at all. It's certainly a slow sipper, and it's very boozy.
I love the craziness of this beer, but maybe 2 oz of it is more than enough for me.
