Our 6th anniversary beer brewed with local buckwheat honey, aged for 2 years in stainless, & 9 months in oak. This variant is a blend of all barrel variants (bourbon, rum, port, & port finished rye).

This one pours a dark garnet red, with the tiniest disappearing head, and no lacing.
This smells mainly of port, with some light tartness, and an astringent yeasty aroma.
This unfortunately just does not work. The port absolutely dominates the blend here - maybe I would like the bourbon or rum better. But with two of the barrels having port in their history, that fruity and slightly tart flavor just dominates. The base quad barely makes an appearance underneath the fruitiness and the port.
This is also just too thin to stand up to the barrel character. It tastes like port just without the accompanying thick body that port actually has.
I usually love Swiftwater and will always support them, but this is definitely a miss.
