Its Luau Time!
For the fourth rendition of our Luau festival with our best buds at Mortalis Brewing, we threw together a special blend of #summerstout for you all to enjoy.
This Luau blend is made up of a number of various threads of our BIG imperial stout ranging from 16 to 27 months old and aged in a variety of casks including bourbon, apple jack, and maple bourbon. After thoughtful blending, we finished this BIG on locally made granola from our friends at MochaNola, chopped walnuts, and a little bit more of our house aged bourbon barrel maple syrup.
We get waves of fudgy brownie batter, something evocative of grandma's favorite maple walnut ice cream, and a touch of bourbon soaked oak structure to round it all out.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like baked apples, oak, leathery bourbon, maple, granola, milk chocolate, and vanilla.
This is a really great take on this excellent stout – the granola and applejack sort of combine together into a take on like a baked caramel apple with spices. There’s a lot of bourbon barrel here, too, leathery, oaky, and slightly boozy. There’s a good amount of chocolate fudgy sweetness, as well, with a hit of nuttiness as the beer warms a bit.
This is thick, slightly boozy, but still pretty drinkable overall.
This is a nice and playful take on one of my favorite local stouts.
