Swiftwater BIG imperial stout aged in a private pick Privateer Rum Barrel(3 year 8 month) for 13 months, and then packaged and allowed to lager for an extended period.

We get huge impressions of burnt turbinado sugar, molasses, fudgy brownie, and a beautifully unique rum. Supported with just enough oak tannin, this beauty is great to enjoy today or lie down for the future.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like maple, milk chocolate, caramel, oak, and light spice.

Cold, this is kind of generically sweet with a hint of rum, but as it warms it really opens up into something pretty delightful. It gets quite caramelly and oaky, with a pleasant warming spice to it. The maple is quite sweet here, but I do love maple, so I’m ok with it.

This is thick, very creamy, almost syrupy, with very little booziness. It’s a slow sipper – I took the bottle down over maybe two hours.

This isn’t my favorite BIG variant yet that they’ve done, but I’ve liked pretty much all of them so it doesn’t mean much.
