This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and very little lacing.
This smells wonderful, with spicy barrel, dried black cherry, roasted malt, dark grade maple, cookie dough, and milk chocolate.
I’ve liked pretty much beer in this series so far. The best ones are the ones that are just a cool barrel with no added adjuncts (other than the maple that’s always in the base). The barrel really helps tamps down the inherent sweetness of a 15% maple stout, giving some nice oak and spicy, and some cookie dough and vanilla on top of the milk chocolate and maple. There’s also some definite dried dark fruit here.
This is medium bodied, velvety, slightly syrupy, but quite drinkable with very little booziness.
This is certainly quite enjoyable.
