Tasted on tap at the taproom/brasserie in Raleigh, NC. Like all the beers I had that night, this was well-crafted, with ingredients and characteristics that would be found in original Belgian examples.
This was listed on the tap list as a "Smoked Belgian Brown", which is not a traditional style, except in that it's tradition that Belgian brewers don't care about "styles", and brew what they want. Whatever it was, this was my favorite beer of the evening. It had wonderful malt aromas and flavors with a bit of smoke.

Dark brown color with a slight red appearance. Thin white head. Not much of an aroma. Smokey flavor, chicory note like that Cafe du Monde coffee. Dry malt finish. Great to drink on the patio on a cool fall afternoon.
