22oz bottle acquired in trade with DarkElf (thanks!).
Poured a deep mahogany color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of smoked meat, smoked salmon, and some caramel. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, smoked meat. Nice smokiness.

Smell is of slim jim aromas with some smoked peat and mild fruit.
Taste is of the same aromas with mild fruitiness, mild flowers, and caramel.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, sweet, meaty, and fruity.

Appearance: Alluring brownish red, with a matching brown/grey head.
Smell: Smokey and lactic "fat", it reminded me of Gravlax, smoked herring, or those smoked mussels in oil. Very nice indeed, I'd love to know how they were able to pull this off.
Taste: Quite a thick and full lager, it's hard to get any maltier than this, lots of maple, soy, pancetta, and a whole slew of food your cardiologist doesn't want you get near of. Lip-smacking mouthfeel that leaves you satisfied like a lumberjack's breakfast.

Appearance This bier poured a light, shiny brown in color with a modest head.
Smell The smoke here was light and more like a slow-roasted pig than a heavy-handed Rauchbier ashtray like some authentic examples of the style.
Taste The malts are surprisingly thick at the taste. It was big and heavy on the tongue. It was also super-sugary with lots of sweets to go with the modest smoked-bacon flavor.
Mouthfeel This one is in between light and medium-bodied with some modest carbonation.
Drinkability This Rauchbier is very smooth and went down well. I threw some salami in my glass to make it interesting and it held up quite well. Good job Midnight Sun!
Comments Vielen dank to my freudin Kim for popping this gem at the first annual Ballard Bavarian Bratwurst Fest. It was a mighty tasty treat : )
