Tan head with some lace. Black color.

Tasty black ale/stout hybrid. Earthy hops, a bit of resin in there. Roasted and chocolate malts. Some of the berserker molasses shows. A little fudge. Caramel. Medium bodied. Really solid.

A roasty beast of an 8%er! Three finger head, black as pitch. Not bad at all.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin, dark khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, cocoa and a little woodiness. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with light char, vanilla, baker's chocolate with some light grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Tastes just like it promises: a lighter version of the big Berserker. Flavor is still rich, if not quite as intense as its big brother. Great malt depth with good chocolate notes. Hops seem milder than in Berserker, and probably for the better. A flavorful, satisfying imperial stout. Another beer that I've had many times in the past, but somehow never reviewed. Glad to have had to catch up. This newer version is a bit less ABV,

Pours jet black with minimal tan head. Viscous with zero head retention and lacing

S: Dark fruit and iron

T: Dark fruit, smoke, iron bone dry. Raisin, dryness, a little carob and vanilla as this warms. Finishes dry with a little char, smoke, and Baker's chocolate

MF: Chewy: low carbonation

Super dry, makes a sipper for sure

 

 

 

Decanted into a conical pint glass. No production date evident. Pours an almost black brown with a decent, bronze colored head. Bouquet of roasted malts evident with hints of sweet fresh biscuits and coffee grounds; tastes of rich dark malts with notes of dark, unsweetened chocolate. Medium body with reasonable retention of effervescence. Solid representative of the style.

 

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, leaving wisps of bubbles that mostly covered the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of burnt and roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, but has stronger flavors of burnt and roasted malts and a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice stout if you like roasted and charred flavors of malts. At 6.9% abv, it's on the lighter side compared to other beers in the style, including its big daddy, the Berserker.

Just OK stout, so-so drinkability. Good black colour with bubbly head. Roast aroma. Bottle from Decicco's. Nothing outstanding in a World of Good Stouts.Second time much more enjoyed.

 

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. The ABV is 6.9% per the bottle, not the 8.5% listed in the BA description. This is a nice second runnings beer - a simple, straightforward roasty stout, with lots of flavor for 6.9% ABV.
