Pours a huge foamy white head. Lots of lace. Tons of carbonation. Color is a pale golden dark orange.

Aroma: Floral and earthy. Brett funk. Horse blanket. Coriander and spice. Lemon peel and zest.

Taste: Floral and earthy. Very bretty. A lot of coriander and clove. Some green apple citrus. Oak and grape skin flavors.

Mouthfeel: Very dry. Lighter bodied with a high amount of carbonation. Ends dry

Overall, this was a very enjoyable beer. A lot of good stuff going on here. Very drinkable.

 

 

bright golden amber with a smallish maybe one finger high head of white fizzy lace that formed on top. Very hazy and cloudy with lots of sediment floating

very light and bright with lots of yeast and wheat like aromas. There were some light hints of fruit and a touch of grassy and grainy qualities in it as well. There was light grape and a touch of lemon in it as well. A earthy grassy quality as it warmed up. hints of peach and grss mixed in but both were very light and did not really contribute all that much to the overall approach. The finish was very dry and had an almost light wine like taste to it, very long and drawn out it was really very nice and a classic witbier

A - Yellow colored beer that had a pretty big white head on it with a decent amount of lacing and some good retention.

S - Really like the smell on this one with lots of green apple. There is a nice bit of funk, barnyard, little bit of wood.

T - The flavor is a bit of a let down, as the flavor profile is a lot more empty than the nose indicated. Some bread, the funk and apple is much more subdued making this a little bit bland. Lots of bready wheat in here, but this was a letdown from the nose.

M - Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation, seems fine. Bit of a dry finish.

O - This beer could have been great, but still ended up being pretty good. Glad I got to try this one, and wouldn't mind having it again.

Good thing I read a few of the reviews before I popped this one. I had glasses at the ready and opened the bottle over them just in case. The slightest bit of pressure causes the cap to blast itself off with a huge cork-like popping sound. Fizzy bubbles cascade into the glass and dominate the glass as the level of the hazy gold liquid slowly builds as the bubbles disappear as quickly as they form, leaving only 1 finger of fluffy cap on top. Almost no lacing results.

The aroma is Belgian to the max, with coriander, clove, and white pepper notes in front of an almost forest-floor-like funk. Esters of stone fruits (peaches and apricot), pear, lemon also come through. The smell is really awesome. The taste loses some of the phenols, and thins out a bit, though the fruity esters and the funk from the brett are still very present. White pepper is still present, but clove and coriander are more muted.

Prickly from the extremely high carbonation, the body feels a bit light, even for a witbier. Dry in the finish, the brett does its part to enhance and deepen the complexity of this beer. Unfortunately, the body is a touch thin for the flavors. This is a very solid beer, and I think that age has done it well. This should continue to age well, but I think that it is nearing its peak.

A- light straw color, hazy but still translucent, small half finger head the disappears slowly
S- buttery, floral and Brett, a lot of funk and Brett on this through out.
T- mostly Brett, not much floral taste to this, small amounts of citrus funk but very light, very thin in the taste
M-light carbonation with a dry finish

Overall, I was a little disappointed with MSB on this effort, it has some age on it but the flavor just seemed very thin, especially in comparison to the smell.

I poured it into a Schneider-Weisse glass

The look might be a bit off, because I had a foam up upon opening, so frustrating when that happens. the head retention is a bit off. Bubbles

Smells like brett with just a bit of lemon lime and vinegar aromas.

Lemon, orange peal, the typical wheaties flavors that you get from a wheat beer, with a bit of lemony sourness, the brett works well with the wit beer aromas and flavors

a touch thin, good carbonation

I could probably drink this all day, but I'm not sure that I would be super enthusiastic about it. It's a pretty decent beer but I'm not especially fond.

Poured a murky golden yellow with pale yellow highlights that had a finger of head and left lots of bubbly lacing sticking to the glass. The aroma had some bretty funky notes with citrus zest grainy wheat, sweet malts and a hint of underlying spice. The flavor was also pretty wheaty and grainy with citrus accents but a little sweet from the malts and a touch of bretty funk coming through as well. I did have slight coriander notes. The brew was medium in body with a good amount of carbonation which had a grainy, sweet, citusy, funky, prickly finish. It drank pretty good and overall was a solid wit brew. Really glad I had the opportunity to do the brew crew vertical thanks to the homie torino. Good lookin out playa.

A: The pour is a cloudy orange color with a bit white head.

S: Woah is there a funkiness to this nose. Quite musty and spicy with a bit of woody note to it as well. Green apple, lemon, and an overall barnyard aroma.

T: This beer is intensely dry with a mildly spiced flavor, nowhere near as much as usual for a witbier, but certainly there. A lot of bready wheat is there too, as is the same fruitiness of the nose and still lots of Brettanomyces funk.

M: The body is medium with a fairly aggressive carbonation and a very dry finish.

D: If you like the intense funk from the wild yeast, this is actually a pretty nice beer.

Reviewed from notes - thanks to Alex for bringing this one out. Poured into Stone tulip, color is creamy hazy yellow, with a small white head, good retention and lacing. Smell is wet hops, wheat, citrus fruits, brett funk, a bit of pineapple. Taste is citrus hops, wheat, some muted brett, malt mash, a bit sour. Mouthfeel is watery with a light carbonation and a clean finish. I enjoyed this one, a unique beer that is a bit subdued, almost saison like. I would drink this often if I could.

S - Brett, sweet fruits, funk, lemon, spice.

T - Sweet funk, lemon, brett.

M - Light, good carbonation, semi-dry finish.

D - Very solid, although not outstanding. Although the styles are a different, I enjoy Pride a lot more. I'd drink this one again, for sure.

Thanks to Alex here...Bottle into a tulip...Pours a super light and watery yellow, gusher with great retention and lacing...Aroma is a little light but complex; orange peel, brett, a little coriander. Not as strong funk wise as I thought a brett wit would be...The taste is not as exciting at all, tastes more like a wit than the aroma with a funk finish. Its flat and dead, a light chalk finish with some spice.

Interesting beer and concept, just not executed totally. Needs a little more funk from the brett.

A - Gusher alert! Have a glass ready, as this one goes quickly. Pours with a heft amount of foam that slowly settles to a thin cap and thicker ring. Attractive lightly hazed golden straw body.

S - Funk! Sweet pineapple and tropical brett, stone fruits, and spicy esters. I'm not picking up a ton of coriander and maybe only a little orange peel, making this seem more Saison-like. In any case, it's very nice and reminiscent of the Saison Vautour I had the day before.

T - Taste is a little more muted, with obvious funk, apple skins, unmalted wheat, and a lightly sour citrus finish. Again, it's low on the spice factor, which for me is a positive.

M - This is slightly over-carbonated, although apparently that is a style characteristic of witbier. Body is a little gritty, but is otherwise quite light and refreshing. Finishes slightly dry.

D - I'd definitely have this one again. Seems like it would make a good session option, other than the mildly irritating carbonation level. One of the top five witbiers I've ever had.

Cloudy straw body with a huge white head that lasts seemingly forever, this is appetizing but very over-carbonated.

Tart and fruity aroma, the brett contributes a mild acetic sourness but very little funk. Lightly sour with notes of tropical fruit, pale malt and subtle spice.

Very light on the palate, almost watery. Dry mouthfeel, nice brett flavors, mild grainy malt. Highly carbonated, which contributes to the thin mouthfeel. The flavors are nice, but the carbonation scrubs the palate too much. There's a little spiciness, some wheat and pale malt. Brief finish. Good, but not stellar.
