a flavorful italian pils, which probably needs its own category here on BA. in any event, this is a little raw but really good, super fresh on tap, and a pretty strong and robustly flavored example of the style, german in its essence, but very hoppy as they go, all noble hops must be, earthy and spicy like that, and pretty bitter at the end. the beer is short of clear, a richer golden color, and holding over an inch of thick white lace head. it smells grassy and biscuit forward with a little bit of center malt sweetness and a lightly metallic mineral profile before the familiar lager yeast kicks in, and the flavor mirrors this pretty well, although its hoppy all the way through, not just at the end, and teases a little lime and straw in there too, very summery to me, old worldy but also noticeably fresh. the grain is lightly nutty, hints at a little honey too, and then a sort of rice-like starchiness as well. this isnt all that light to drink, more body than a lot of these have, some doughy yeast aspects, and then all the bitterness to finish, a beer drinkers beer for sure. if this was tidied up just a bit itd be incredible. a needed cold one after a long travel day. this style is agreeing with me lately, loving them!
