"Chooser of the slain", Valkerie's are depicted in Norse mythology as a warrior woman on horseback, armed with a spear, who decides the fate of warriors in battle. Berserker Valkerie is aged on cherries and vanilla, adding a tart sweetness to the Berserker Imperial Stout base you all know so well. Seductive bourbon, chewy wine, dark fruit, and lavish tobacco invade your taste buds with in-your-face flavor. You've been chosen, give it a good fight!

Poured into a Stone Gargoyle flute. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass, with a quarter finger khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, licorice, woody oak, cocoa, dried cherries and mild vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt, oxidized hops, woody oak, licorice, well dried cherries, mild dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. The classic Berserker malt base with the promised cherry, which tastes more like a slightly tart dried cherries rather than sweet ones. Not getting much vanilla. This one year old bottle has some oxidation character, which may be responsible for the licorice notes in the aroma and taste. A pleasant variant stout and nicely done.

Grabbed a bottle of 2022 release while at Midnight Sun. Beautiful dark pour with rich foamy/ creamy tan head. Dissipated into thin film with halo and a bit of lacing. Jus halo at end of session.
Super full rich nose with dark malts, wood, vanilla and fruit.
Taste mirrored but quickly lost fruit and added a bit of roasty bitterness. Vanilla more merged not stand out…where I had expected more stand out based on description. Winey as advertised.
Body was very smooth. Medium thin but a bit of effervescence. Very slight cloying. Not distracting/Nice. No abv noticed.
Overall a very good BA Imp Stout.
Frankly, I don’t prefer Fruit added stouts. Dont care for winey brews other than some farmhouse wild ales. Never like Choc covered cherries, etc.
But It had been recommended at the brew pub; so I thought why not? Won’t be back in AK soon.
So I’m not the best judge of this brew.
But it is masterfully done, and may be better appreciated by those that like fruit in their stouts.
Again a very good Stout!
