On tap at City Beer Store.
Pitch black body capped by a thin mocha head that recedes to a ring.
The aroma opens with a blast of bourbon and oak. Whiffs of caramel, chocolate and vanilla round things out. It's no-frills and not overly complex, but it's damn good; very mellow and rounded without any heat.
Palate is very barrel forward, great bourbon flavors on display. Caramel and chocolate, some drying oak tannins. Quite a bit sweeter than the non-barreled Mammoth Stout, and with a bigger body. Smooth and mellow while still hitting all the flavors I'd want in a barrel aged imperial stout.
