Mackinac Island Brew House

 

This was stop #7 on a 6-day pub crawl that would take my wife and me to the Brewers Guild UP Beer Fest and back. This place is listed as a Brewery, Bar and Store here on BA, but what I found was a beer and wine store with tasting. Yes, they have two beers contract brewed (one by Mountain Town Brewing and one by Saugatuck Brewing) so that bottles are available with a label showing the name of this brewery. But this isn't a brewery, it's a tasting room (beer and wine) and a bottle shop, and I really doubt that the more rare beers ever see their way into this store to be able to bump up the quality rating. The selection is large, and for this resort town, there is a rapidly growing customer base that will love this store.

Beautifully appointed store that serves as both a bottleshop and tasting room. Make your own sixers from hundreds of different brews (plus wine if you're into that sort of thing) and ciders. Most are 1.94/bottle unless otherwise noted. Some prices were pretty decent, some were a little outrageous, although I'm finding shops up north are more reasonable with their pricing than the places around metro Detroit. We did the flight tasting, five beers plus a souvenir pint. Service was nice, selection was probably the widest in the area.

This is a beer store next to a wine store in a high end strip mall but the beer store has 10 microbrewery craft beers on tap and they have several hundred beer selections from 350 different craft breweries. I have had problems in the past with out of date beer and a couple of skunky ones so be sure to check out the best by dates on the bottles.
