Poured from a 22 ounce bottle purchased at the North Coast Co-op in Eureka, California. The body is hazy amber in color; the head is tall, over an inch and a half, egg-white in color.

Smell:

A flat, almost one-dimensional citrus rind nudge -- not much to mention. Honestly, PBR has more character to its scent (SACRILEGE!).

Taste:

Thin, flat spread of light lemony notes backed by a subtle saltine cracker maltiness; the aftertaste is a narrow slip of rapidly fading hop character and a sickening sweet 'n low sweetness along the edges.

Mouthfeel:

Not bad. Nicely carbonated for a pale ale (not too much, not too little). Rests without hassle on my palate.

Overall, a disappointing beer.

Pale golden-copper body with a medium-size, thick, dirty-white head.
Smells of butterscotch, sweet fruit salad dressing (pineapple base), with minor hop backing (light pine forest scent).
Butter toffee and butterscotch hard candy sweetness dominate the palate. Medium-bodied. Buttered popcorn comes through midway on a and some slight, medicinal hops chime in toward, and into, the finish. Tastes off, or maybe it’s just not for me.

Presentation: 22 ounce Cali Bomber with a small neck label that says “Tuscan Celebrate Life”. The main label on my bottle has a completely different appearance to that shown on the 12 ounce bottle in the BA Database. My Bomber has a picture of a pig with a hop made garland on its head blowing a horn. Labeled as “Paradise Pale Ale”, listed at 5.7% on the left of the label, but there is no Best Before Date listed.

Appearance: Clear amber body with a large voluminous head at first, this slowly rescinds to a persistent finger thick off-white creamy head that leaves some great looking lacing. Nice carbonation and a good overall appearance.

Nose: Sweet malty nose, light fruits and a hoppy floral aroma.

Taste: Crisp biscuit malts and a sweet malty feel. Fruity middle with some floral hops, a touch of yeast, and a delicate perfume ending which has a spicy hop twinkle. Not much hop presence, but a mildly bitter ending that tends to be swamped with the fruity aspects of this Pale Ale. Dry, clean ending with a lingering sweet malt feel on the tongue. Fruity sweet malts dominate.

Mouthfeel: Average body with a creamy feel and a slick texture, but it suffers from a slightly cloying feel when it warms. Best taken chilled, don’t let this one warm.

Drinkability: A good supping Pale Ale for a warm sticky night. Drinks well.

Overall: Picked up for $2.49 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido. Seems like this one is from a relatively small brewer given the fact that there are only a couple of prior reviews. Not much about this one is great, and the mouthfeel can be wanting, so it no doubt suits those hot nights in Red Bluff, CA perfectly. Not a bad offering, and certainly not a waste of money, but I am not sure it is something I would purchase again, especially given the fact that there are much better Pale Ales out there, witness the excellent Full Sail Pale Ale, for less money.

Poured a hazy golden brown with a foamy off-white head. Lots of effervesence.Good head retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and a mild hoppiness. Nice balance of smells.
The flavor was a good balance of sweet malts, a little fruitiness and a mildly bitter hop presence. A little light in the body and hops for a West Coast Pale Ale but I suppose that helps it go down better in those 120 degree Red Bluff summers. Highly drinkable.
