Bought at the brewery November 2015 and promptly cellared for 11 months. Completely forgot about it. Poured a cloudy brown with a minimal head. No lacing to speak of. First sip...uh oh...sour...back to the label..."wine barrel aged"...okay, maybe it's supposed to be sour. Let's check BA for other reviews...hmmm...nothing. Anywhere. Not even Broken Tooth's website returns anything. Untapped? There it is. Ok, sour brown it is. Label says Belgian Brown, but BA doesn't offer that category so it went into the American Brown. So, I'm gonna guess it was a red wine barrel it was aged in. The finish is very similar to a dry red wine.
Typical brown ale backbone. Malty goodness, hints of nuttiness. Raisins? Alcohol is up front and 10 minutes in, it's smacking me in the head. Initial pour was pretty cold, straight from the fridge. Now that it's warming up, the sourness is not as biting. Slight carbonation, as evident by the head when poured.
Really wish this wasn't the first review in here. I can't help but wonder what sitting for a year has done to it.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
