Pours a golden citrus color with a white head. Smell was very sweet with hops and malt ,citrus, floral and tropical hops. Taste was very tasty nice citrus plug of hops ,juicy & fruity. Mouth feel was sweet with malts but nicely balaced with the overlaod of hops. ABV was pretty well hidden and i found myself drinking this one quickly.

Octo-hops for an Octo-month, the brewers at Mad Beach reward their loyal imbibers for a long and hot summer with an imperial hop taste with eight different varieties and with the strength to withstand cooler months ahead.

Octohopopus runs the gamut of hop aromas- everything citrus, melon, herb, tropical and grassy rolls onto the nose along with the toasty sweet backdrop of caramelized malts. Its hazy amber hue and creamy off-white froth layers onto the tongue with sweetness first, casting aspirations of caramel, graham cracker and pound cake as those firm notes take control early.

As the malt sweetness slowly retreats, the hops billow onto the middle palate. Toastiness remains to support the citrus taste of pink grapefruit, orange peel and a kiss of lemon. Tropical flavor roll on with mango, apricot and hints of pineapple. Finishing herbal and piney, its resinous finish is of light sap, sassafras, pepper, fresh grass clippings and an overall tea-like, bark-like bitterness.

Medium-full, the beer's body remains firm, seeming of a larger-than-life amber ale. Bold caramel flavors and its associated malt creaminess is reluctant to fade entirely and keeps the balance closer to even-keel than is common for even imperial IPA. Lingering bitter-sweetness is of bitter marmalade and those pound cake characteristics wash over the throat in a long lasting afterglow.

WORLD CLASS, in my opinion. The nose is very hoppy as it the taste. It has a dry finish, but the hops linger on the back of the tongue.

A DIPA with 8 different hop varieties. Intriguing.
Arrives deeply amber in color, slightly off-white head with serious retention and some decent lace.
Smell. 6 different brews before I find one with a nose. Sweet, malty, hops, resinous, a whiff of vanilla maybe.
Taste is both sweet and resinous, slightly peppery, malt, herbaceous. Really well balanced. Best choice so far.
Just medium bodied, light effervescence. Not as warming or drying as I expected, very drinkable.
