Dark brown color with an amber edge. Invitingly foamy and sticks to the Dupont chalice. Pleasing sudsy mouthfeel. Poured from the 32 oz jug purchased at the brewery tasting room near Georgetown, this one has lasted well several days in the back of the refrigerator before opening.
Moderately bitter. The brewer rates this at 81 IBUs, which seems way overstated. It's a little herbal, but not the full=on dank that shouts "Cascadian" in a lot of these dark brews. There's even a malty base that lasts well. Just touch of sweetness, full-bodied but dry. There is a distinct scratch of burnt grain but a modest grainy and bitter finish. An interesting dark brew with a resiny hop bite.
