Handsome clear amber with ample foam in the snifter. Aroma is beery and winey both as the oak emerges. There's an unfortunate whiff of plastic. Sharp mouthfeel and medium body. This has enough barrel influence to have a little sourness developing. Sets the teeth a trifle on edge.
Some malt taste but the sweetness evaporates. Quite bitter aftertaste. It tastes yeasty and the dry finish makes me wonder if there was a Belgian yeast involved. On the whole this tastes more like a Belgian IPA than the typical American style. It's quite sharp yet the hops seem to evade me, except for the bitterness and some green tea notes.
