Handsome coppery brown with plenty of foam in the Ciney snifter. Interesting aromatics with something winey and a whiff of vanilla. Fizzy and rather sharp on the tongue. It's not your usual Porter by any means. The barrel tang is quite distinct.
Some malty sweetness, a touch of caramel, and a tart zestiness. Rather bitter aftertaste, more like the bitterness of some Belgian yeast brews. Some tannic notes, like seeds and stems. Overall, a From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Special Brews in Lynnwood.
