12 ounce wax capped bottle, no dating that I noticed on it but I believe the bottles were a January 2019 release. Also not sure if there's a base Dog Avon or just the barrel aged version (as the bottle states this is barrel aged). Served in a snifter, the beer pours a cloudy brown color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like raisins, red wine/grapes, caramel, brown sugar, bready malt, oak and cherry. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some earthy/herbal and plum flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit syrupy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good barleywine, I'll have to try more of DogBerry's brews in the future!

From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This rather nice
barleywine pours a nice red tinged copper color with a touch of chill
haze and a moderate head of white foam that subsides to a thick ring,
thin swirling pool, and displays some very subtle lacing. Nose of subtleties
on this one; stone fruits, light brown sugars, subtle booze for such an abv,
and moderately strong herbal hops. Flavors surpass the nose with medium
brown sugars drenched in notes of cherry and peach, subtle toffee, biscuit
notes, subtle yellow raisin, and moderately strong herbal and pine hop notes
surrounded by warming moderately strong tasting booze. Nice mouth feel;
medium body, warming, smooth as can be, low carbonation perfect for the style,
and a lightly dry and lightly fruity and hop tinged finish.

Bigfoot with some sophistication. Very nice.

Cheers to Dogberry for brewing such a fine brew!
