This feels a bit more like dessert than breakfast to me with a decent amount of sweetness overall. I love cardamom so this hits that spot nicely, it’s very apparent in the aroma and a well integrated note on the palate. I have to disagree with an earlier reviewer in that I don’t find the body to be incredibly thick, in fact more like medium and just a smidge on the light side for me. I’d like a little fuller body with this flavor profile. But it is pretty oily and sticky. Odd slightly fizzy cola appearance. Not sure this is quite world class
But definitely pretty darn enjoyable.

Can to snifter.
The appearance was a fairly thick brown close to black color in my glass. A stifled eggshell white foamy head slid off at a nice pace to leave some adequate filmy lace.
The aroma started off with cardamom seeds, roasted coffee notes, dark chocolate and toasted wafer/biscuit character. Seems to warm up with a light vanilla and more of a milk chocolate to chocolate cake-like contour.
The flavor had an endearing quality of blending all of those prior aromas - sweetly, roasty and toasty while punching the cardamom earthy semi-spiciness well into the rich chocolatey layers. Well balanced aftertaste of cardamom fresh earthy spice rolling into those chocolatey rich layers.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality to it. Cardamom isn't as distracting as I thought it could have been. Carbonation feels spot on. Finishes semi-smooth with some dry semi-seedy cardamom earthy tones.
Overall, a very nicely done imperial stout that Culmination says is their breakfast stout. Is it? Just try it on your own and find out.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cardamom and light vanilla, overall somewhat muted. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, vanilla, cardamom and very light almond and cocoa, well integrated. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A very different imperial stout variant. The cardamom gives this an exotic character with the vanilla and light cocoa bringing things together for an interesting dessert style stout. It is reminiscent of a spiced latte, which would appropriate for its breakfast stout labeling. Cardamom is a strong spice, but although it is one of the dominant flavors, it is deftly used. I'd kind of like a bit more almond, but that can be an overwhelming flavor too, so perhaps this is more harmonious as is. Considering the vanilla, almond and cardamom combination, this is a very well behaved and balanced flavored stout. I like it quite a bit.

Just about black, but appears thin and heavily carbonated. Nice littlequarter inch of light brown foam that doesn't really feel like sticking around.

Nose is clean and rich. Cardamom comes through first with some clean roast, coffee and chocolate. Cardamom transitions into the sweet vanilla, and these two notes in particular serve to dominate the rest of the nose. Vanilla with primacy, cardamom second.

Good flavours in there, but a little sweet for my taste. Starts off with the vanilla, but almond moves forward to take more of a roll than I'd expected. Sweet almond, like almond paste, not nutty like actual almonds. The sweetness of the vanilla subsumes a little, but not all the way. Cardamom remains dancing around the edges. I happen to like cardamom. Blended deliciously into a rich roasty toasty base that's got espresso, chocolate, and maybe a hint of toffee. Finish gets the cardamom spice into a burnt bakers chocolate bitterness.
Body is incredibly thick and oily and smoothe and and sticky delicious. The little carbonation is appropriate and feels like an extension of the cardamom spice.

This has grown on me as I've worked into the glass. It's sweeter than I prefer, but other than that it's fantastic.
