Fresh hop Phaedrus w: simcoe
From a can. Pours true to style in all its west coast glory. Thick two finger foam cap. Wonderful hoppy bouquet, with this underlying fresh hop green note that carries over to the sip as well. Big big big mouthful of hops as well, with so much freshie goodness on the finish. This one’s a winner.

Look: Pours a slightly cloudy dull orange with a poofy white head that ramps up and slowly settles to a lid, leaving nice lacing behind
Aroma: Oh yeah. Resinous pine, sweet onion, ripe grapefruit flesh and rind, Cannabis, fresh hop cones, and bitter orange
Taste: Opens up with a rush of flavors reminiscent of chewing fresh hop cones before the varietal flavors emerge. Sticky pine and pithy grapefruit strike next and develop depth as waves of bitter orange and skunky and fruit Cannabis follow. Closes with more wet hop cones, pine sap, grapefruit, and a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and moderately dry on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. My first dance with the FH Phaedrus was last year (Centennial hops) and I liked it so when I heard about a Simcoe version this year, I was sold and hunted it out. All the typical and desirable fresh hop attributes are showcased as are Simcoe’s profile and in all the right ways, IMO. Delicious and recommended
