Open Brewing is the first commercial brewpub in the country dedicated to “open-source brewing,” an incubator for homebrewers to “guest brew,” under the mentorship of Brewmaster Norm Penn, while developing their recipes on a commercial scale, sharing the final product in the taproom, and receiving valuable feedback from the community. Open also serves as a team-building brew location, where organizations can team up to brew a beer for a celebration or fundraising effort, and host a special release event in the taproom. At Open Brewing, guest-brewers can reach new audiences, experience the brewing process on a larger scale and have to opportunity to gain exposure and recognition in the thriving local beer community.

For beer lovers, Open Brewing will be South Asheville’s hot spot to gather and sample unique brews they may never have the opportunity to drink twice. Visitors are able to learn first-hand about the brewing process through asking our knowledgeable staff and following the colorful, self-guided infographic tour. Look to the board to see which new brews are on tap, brewers in the tanks and upcoming brew sessions. Bring friends and family to enjoy a pint in the taproom, or out on the patio. You never know when you may walk in on a homebrew session in progress!
