Looks like this doppelbock may start life as a blonde bock but the barrel adds an interesting red hue. A finger of head forms and settles to a thin cap. The barrel also has a lot of influence on the aroma and flavor. Smells like apple brandy. Ripe Red Delicious, vanilla, caramel, and alcohol. The flavor is a bit harsh with the strong apple brandy influence. Not tasting a lot of doppelbock. Certainly could of done with some weakening by blending. Some alcohol heat in the finish. Pleasant carbonation results in a nice feel.
