330ml bottle served into a tulip glass.
Look: Deep, golden yellow and slightly hazy. Off-white, bubbly head with not much in the way of retention. A few desultory clumps of foam stuck around on the surface whilst the head migrated to the edge of the glass. Gives the appearance of being fairly fizzy. Quite a bit of sediment in the glass but not so much in the glass. Pour carefully!
Smell: Fragrant, clean and chock-full of hops - grapefruit, passion-fruit, flowers and pine resin. It's got the lot - lots of pine resin and floral notes to begin with, but let it breathe for a while and you'll get a heap of citrus and fruit thrown into the mix. It manages to smell refreshing.
Taste: Sour! OK, so it's not in the same league as something like Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus or Rodenbach Grand Cru but there's a big helping of sourness to go with the hops. The bottle blurb describes it as being 'mildly acidic', which is true enough but comes as a bit of a surprise from something that smells like an IPA. The net result is very tasty and the sourness manages to complement the hops beautifully.
Mouthfeel: Like the bottle blurb says: "fragrant, clean and mildly acidic" - this really is a thirst quencher.
Overall: My first taste of Chorlton's output and, given that they specialise in sour beers it's unlikely to be my last. Think of something along the lines of a sour IPA and you'll be getting pretty close to what this is. It's an acquired taste for sure, but if you like sour beers and IPAs then this is a rather delightful combination of the two styles. Well worth a look.

I got a bad bottle
but I can see from it what a good bottle would be like
mine had all the hop sediment
which proves the quality & quantity of the product
It is big hops magnified & sour on top
