Poured from 330mL can into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 4/7/23. This can puts the ABV at 9.1%.
Appearance: light golden hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop. Quite reasonable.
Smell: very sweet and malty with a bit of a fruity, citrusy, perhaps even a tad piney hop character to it. Reminds me very much of a strong ale or American barleywine. Good, but perhaps a bit ... much.
Taste: sweet, of course, with a fruity, herbal hop character. Bitterness is relatively low given the huge ABV and sweetness of the malt. It's not bad, per se, but for this amount of heft I want something more than just sweetness.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. To be honest, I'd expect more from a beer this size.
Overall: this beer is relatively tasty, and of course I will finish it. But is it "drinkable"? Well, it's certainly not crushable.

Okay. Continuing my Hungarian journey, here is a West Coast Double IPA, which is a style I don't like and I mistakenly bought. Regardless, here it is. Pours much lighter than a West Coast. Yes, the malt is strong in the scent (which is not for me), but there is a surprise honey in here as well.
And I am a bit surprised. This is actually better than I thought. The malt is balanced and toned down nicely by biscuit or something. It's certainly not the hops. They are there and bitter of course. Dry and very boozy aftertaste.
Not fully my style, but this is a pleasant enough surprise twist.

Its a nice IPA with intense hoppy taste, with a lots of citrus flavour with some back of the throat biscuit like aftertaste.

Monyó is a prominent craft brewery in Hungary. They always make quality beers and have many great ideas for unique taste. However tapping into the perfect West Coast style IPA is quite difficult - I believe you would in fact need those ingredients and water from there.
Monyo tried to create one with this WIPA and it is a nice try but unfortunately not as noteworthy as the big ones. It does have loads of US hops in it and is quite intense in its taste but feels a bit raw to me, ie. not refined enough.
I was satisfied with drinking this but we still need many years of experience, trial and error to be able to brew a perfect West Coast IPA. Way to go Monyó, keep on trying!
