This was another solid beer from Ratio. It's not quite a schwarzbier, and not quite a brown, but something in the middle. Not too hoppy or malty, but you can taste the darkness. Given the name, I'm presuming that's what they were going for with this one. Not a lot of places make this style of beer, and that's too bad because it's a nice change of pace.

Very nice light brown fine cell structured foam with light lace above a deep ebony beer.
Black licorice, espresso
Sweet dark roasted malt, a bit like black coffee with some sugar and a bit of bitter licorice on the end. A touch of inside of the banana peel ester vibe happening. The licorice note might be the negative for me since I am not a big fan.
Creamy like a stout or porter with heavier viscosity than a normal lager or pilsner. Cloying with back of the throat thickness.
This is a nice beer but may be out of a rebuy for me because, well Porters and stouts. The light licorice note messes with me.

A "hoppy brown lager" per Ratio.
