Having this on nitro tap at the brewery in downtown San Francisco. Served to me in a tulip type glass, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color with a dark tan head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles eventually to a very thick surface coating of film layer surface from thick ring lining the inside of the glass. Aromas call roasted malts, black coffee, and chocolate, along with some earthy hop notes. There is similar flavor profile, with the aforementioned roasted malts along with chocolate sweetness and black coffee bitterness. This is followed by some earthy, Slightly resinous hop notes. A well, balanced and tasty flavor profile as a somewhat crisp, slightly oily and sticky, medium to full body mouth deal with light to moderate carbonation. A good Porter. Stylewise, I feel this checks all the boxes that are typical for this style of beer.
