Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Woooah, pours jet-black with the most extraordinary thin dark rust-orange cap of foam. I have never seen such a colour head before!
S- Complex. I get liquorice and I believe a citrus aspect (quite a warm one).
T- Very different, like a dark chocolate Jaffa cake + liquorice. Dark cocoa, bitter orange + liquorice. Each of those 3 notes is loud and proud here. I started this fridge cold, as it begins to warm the richness grows.
F- Well, it's clearly a high ABV% beer though the ABV% isn't nakedly whacking on your palate. Pretty rich and increasingly so as it warms. Too 'BIG' to rush, yet I fear if this warms a bit too much it might become OTT on the rich>sweet axis. This is like a MEGA intense black beer, after which there would be absolutely no point trying to review anything less bold.
O- Pretty extra-ordinary that beer such as this can be made. I've had a couple of others, black beers of a similar extreme pungency, up in Iceland, the Scandi's seem good at this stuff. Something pretty notable to get to try, though arguably rather OTT in some ways (incl $$$) to buy again.
Review #1912/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Liquorice, lemon, and vanilla. Ingredients only list malted barley and malted wheat. It would be informative to know what all the ingredients are here lest say the citrus, liquorice etc are 'fake' additives.
330ml bottle With the neck and cap dunked in thick matte black wax, forming 'rat tails'. BB: 12/01/2025 £8.90 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

Pours a jet black body with massive thick tan head
Aroma is organic licorice
Flavour is that too, that gourmet liquorice bar
