Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, and that it's 10+%ABV...
One of the quietest pouring beers I've had in a looong while; this suggests danger.
L- Inky black, zero head just a tiny dark tan patch, though expected at this ABV.
S- A thick cocoa smell, like smelling a spoon of dark Nutella.
T- Creamy (lactose?) right on the front, then right into MEGA chocolate. Good lord. Chocolate, Black Forest gateau, chocolate roulade. Super deep chocolate mousse. I believe there is a liquor note, but it fits in so well it's hard to zero in on. Might it be rum?
F- Cor-blimey, it's like they've taken a rum truffle cake and turned it into a refined beer,
O- A statement beer. Ideal for slow-supping in winter. He writes on one of the hottest summer days of the year so far. But it's like a liquor-doused slice of Xmas pud, rich, heavy, detailed... quite fascinating.
Review1972/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==>12.1%, Barley, oats, lactose, peanuts.
330ml bottle BB: 01/06/2026 £8.75 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
