L- Pours entirely black, with a dark tan foam cap. Considering the 11.5% ABV the latter does ok lingering a while. Looks good.
S- Cocoa and lactose.
T- Rich, roasty-toasty, deeply malty+cocoa, creamy. An occasional somewhat bitter tangy note comes in. Hard to ID within the context of the blaster of a surrounding flavour. But I can imagine it is a bitter orange aspect. The roasty-toasty aspect also leans into hints of slightly smokey (?) now and again.
F- I started this chilled and I'm glad I did, it's a thumper on the richness scale. It is a big festive slow-sipping beer. Ideal for sharing a bottle as I could tire of this quite soon.
O- It's certainly different! For what it is I imagine it's well done, interesting to try. I wouldn't buy it again and it's not just the price. It's clearly notably eccentric and pushing boundaries.
Bought from Trembling Madness York UK for home delivery. 330ml bottle BB: 1-11-2027 Ingredients limted to 'Malted Barley and Lactose'.
