This is a very special gift from our friends at Cantillon in cerebration of 20 years of Shelton Brothers. Passionfruit lambic called Citoyen du Monde -- "Citizen of the World," a nod to Casablanca, Dan and Tessa's favorite movie. In the words of Jean Van Roy: "1996 was the year of our debut in the US, and with it, Shelton Brothers was born. 'The American Dream' became a reality for Cantillon as it did for Shelton Brothers. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Light copper orange appearance with a modest white head. What a great choice of adjunct for this beer representing the passions of those who brewed it and who brought it to the US. Bold Passionfruit flavor from beginning to end, softening only slightly as it warms. Moderate body, and lively mouthfeel even for its age. Bold and amazing. Thank you Matt, been wanting to try this one for a long time.

In celebration of Cantillon's two decade partnership with Shelton Brothers Importers, they bring this passionfruit lambic to the world. A unique flavor combinations that fuse the old world earthy sourness of lambic to an exotic and radiant passionfruit succulence for a tandem of taste that's as unique as it is charming.
Turbid in its peachy golden appearance, the dense frothy cap spills over with a host of tropical fruit. Passionfruit leads the way but brings with it a pep of orange, peach, kiwi, cantaloup and papaya. After a peppery and vinously sour tinge teases the nose, the taste is rife with tropical fruit juice and a kiss of sugar cookie.
As the ale saturates the middle palate with fruit and acidity, the sweetness slowly dissolves and a bready underpinning remains to support the passionfruit and bracing acidity. All those citrus, tropical and orchard fruits of its perfumy scent is alive and well in taste- leading with tangerine, nectarine and yes- passionfruit. But also with a hint of banana, berry and tart green apple, its fruit display keeps evolving. Sour with white wine and dry french cider, its piquant tang is accompanied by a soft waft of saddle leather, white pepper and straw.
Medium-bodied for sour ale, the murk of the beer is joined with a rich yeast character of dough. Slighly on the vegemite side of balance, a peppery, creamy finish looms. Pepper spice, powerful acidity and a fruit-laden finish keeps the taste refreshing and characterful but off-clean of what we're used to seeing from Cantillon.
