Sour Ale brewed with peaches from nearby Sartaguda - famous in Spain for their peaches.

The fruit comes directly from the farmer, is crushed and added during the boil. Fermentation is conducted with a special non-saccharomyces yeast. Medium-high carbonation. A refreshing beer with deep peach flavors and soft subtle sourness.

500ml bottle. Medium foamer after removing the cap (which is wrapped). Label is stamped 'L195N 11 - 18'.
Amber brown colored body. Lots of off white fizzy head, which sticks around as a partial cap and ring. One short string of lacing.
Aroma is woody and includes green apple. Faint peach also.
Taste is very tart peaches and grassy funk. Lemon and green apple notes mix in. Aftertaste includes a general fruitiness.
Medium mouth feel. Very effervescent. Very good carbonation. Drier finish.
The beer reminds me of what is made in a drier climate, with a drier/woodier tone all around.

this is darn interesting beer, which is what keeps me coming back to the european craft stuff, especially the wild ales. they just dont use the same stock wild cultures it seems like every upstart operation here in the states is using, all producing some real samey beers. thats not the case with beers like this. a totally different sour profile here, tangy and lactic, but unique at the same time. lemon rind and tart green apple notes pull more of the peaches to the surface. the fruit thats actually in this, not the fruity esters from the yeast, is really vibrant and fresh, true to the fruit itself, but not as sweet as a whole lot of these. a bit mucky to look at. not sure how old this is, or if it was made dry from the start, but its crisp on the back end, especially for a fruit beer. mild horsey funk to it, some musty basement quality, but its pucker and acid that are much more predominant. i love the wild aspect, its very much farmy and old world, very rustic, but i have never had anything like this from belgium or italy, its entirely unique as a spanish beer, a region i am still very new too. this was super impressive and i liked it a lot. kind of chunky at the bottom of the bottle, but it doesnt really trouble me much. id love to get my hands on some other beers from these guys. hoping i see more trickle into the market here in colorado...

Both bold and delicate, a sweet and sour medley emerges from the Sesma brewery- one that celebrates stone fruit earthiness and refreshing tartness in an ale that's rich in complexity but never cumbersome.

Prunus Persica pours a ruddy brown with chestnut and rusty hues. Billowing ecru froth overtakes the rim with persistent retention and clumping lace patterns. Bright with juicy aromas, dark fruit abounds with cherry, berry, prune and date. Its taste is candied and caramelized up front with a toasty, nutty character.

Fruit flavors continue to emerge through the center, even as the malt begins to dissipate. Pushed off the tongue and ushering in a fast and fleeting finish, the malts wash away and leave the vibrancy of fruit behind. Stone fruits of prune, cherry, date, raisin and fig can all be tasted along with hints of strawberry and apricot. Finishing sour with lime, light balsamic and green apple, the flavors begin to tighten and the taste becomes crisp.

Finishing medium-bodied for sour ale, the ale draws comparisons to Flemish red ale but with a unique collection of fruit flavors. Vinously dry, the ale closes with red wine tartness and lingering balsamic savory and sour complexities with a medium aftertaste of cherry and pecan.

A pint on tap. Slightly hazy deep orange with nice head and some lacing. It smells of peach cake, wheat malts, yeast, compote... The taste is malts and yeast, with an overall lactic feel and moderate tartness towards the end, with a sweet and sour finish. Well balanced in the mouth and very refreshing.

This is my first sour beer and really liked it. I will have it again and keep an eye on similar styles. The bar tender told me this one is easier than others though, with the tartness kept at bay and those seductive local peaches in the nose.
