Pours a clear gold color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Slight retention and poor lacing. Smells of coffee, slight chocolate, mushrooms, and slight sweet malt. Fits the style of a Rye Beer. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of coffee, slight chocolate, slight sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, and a hint of citrus hops. Overall, weak appearance, mushroom aroma was interesting, great feel, and decent blend.

a unique and fun beer here, a rye based dark blonde or light red ale with chocolate and coffee, a pretty flavorful and not gimmicky brew, drinkable and bold without being sweet at all, the coffee is really fresh and prominent in the aroma and the flavor, and there is an earthy bitter cocoa element too, nice with the spice of the rye malt and the crispness this has at the end, a clever recipe that has been very well executed by a brewer who knows what they are doing! light smoke from the coffee in with the rye spice, wet tobacco, a little crystal malt richness, subtle toffee and baked bread, a flash of vanilla and malted milk ball, but balanced and drier by the finish, not candy-like at all. the coffee has a nice bittering effect at the end, and the body is smooth and medium, its easy drinking enough to be refreshing, but its also really flavorful and works as a slower sipper too, a very versatile flavored beer. i can tell this uses nice coffee, which is critical with it so exposed over the lighter malt base. the rye and the coffee are a nice pair. cool recipe!
