Ghostfish and The Mountaineers were both founded on the idea of transcending limits. We thrive on a spirit of wonder, a sense of adventure, and a commitment to the wild places of the Pacific Northwest. We’re powered by strong passionate communities who support our missions. Whether its distinctive craft beer made from high-quality, low-impact grains, or unique, life-changing experiences in the outdoors, we believe life is meant to be lived and lived well–no matter who you are. This is Kick Step IPA: a liquid representation of our shared value with The Mountaineers. A classic NW style IPA, golden in color with complex hop aromas of citrus, mango and pine. Sturdy, yet light bodied with a dry finish.

12oz can into a pint glass. Canned 12/13/24, so 5 1/2 months old. Nice dark golden body. Small head, no lacing. Initial toasty bread Aroma disappears after the first chug, after that, nothing. On tasting, although a bit long in the tooth, there is still a hint of pine. A dry bitterness is fairly short lasting, but not unpleasant. Light bodied.

Overall, I would guess this is better than most gluten free west coast ipas. Intrigued to try one fresh off the line.

This beer pours a clear golden color with a medium head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is nondescript malt and hops. Taste is light and crisp. Easy drinking, really good IPA.

Can from Hops & Bottles. Copper colored pour, zero head, looks flat. Aroma is sour grains, caramel, oranges. Taste is more citrus, oranges and grapefruit, then caramel, but falls flat. Tiny bit of hops for some bitterness. Gluten free, but taste free also. Should probably be listed as specialty grain, so you can prepare for the funky taste and smell.

Brewed with millet, brown rice and beet sugar. It's good gluten free attempt, but doesn't have the malt flavor.

DATE: October 1, 2020... OCCASION: rewatching the Mandolorian with the family... GLASSWARE: Abita pint... a dark amber body revels in large, upward-floating bubbles that create a single-fingered white head, equally bubbly before simmering to am island of smears... looks appropriate... thick resin welcomes the nostrils, honey, grapefruit, and a strong scent of lemon, with peppercorn and sharp spelt suggesting a kick... its body is engaging, buzzing and active at the beginning, smooth but textured in the mouth, and a bit syrupy late... the resin, grapefruit, lemon and hop punch are appreciable... the beet sugars are sharp and tart, providing a puckering draw that does a nice job of building a beer whose weight is above that of the average IPA--though I wouldn't call it a session... this delivers a nice, flavorful punch that minimizes the missteps that often are detrimental to gluten-free offerings... definitely one that works, and one I would have again.
