Each year during hop harvest in Washington, we select different hops to showcase in these limited releases. This year's fresh hop beer features 300 lbs of fresh picked Cascade & Comet hops harvested from Sweet Alyssum Farm on Vashon Island, WA. Whole-cone hops harvested on brew day and put into the kettle to create liquid gold!

Tasting notes: Floral, tropical, fruity

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 10-8-25 into a tulip glass at 53 degrees.

Look- Straw, mildly hazy, white sudsy head, severely below average head retention and lacing.

Smell- Passionfruit, mango, pine, strawberry, slightly earthy, medium strength of scent that dissipated quickly.

Taste- Passionfruit, strawberry, tangerine, pine, herbal, lemon, between medium and high strength of flavor.

Feel- Between thin and medium body, below average carbonation, moderately prickly, mildly bitter, clean finish, slightly dry finish, mildly creamy.

Overall- The beer presents with a mildly hazy straw colored appearance. A sudsy white head fades super quickly leaving zero lacing. The bouquet is passionfruit, mango and strawberry with some pine and earthy notes. The aromatics start at medium strength, but fade quickly as the head vanishes. The flavor is a medium-high intensity fruity mix of passionfruit, strawberry, tangerine and lemon balanced nicely with pine and herbal undertones. The body was between thin and medium and the carbonation was below average. This beer was moderately prickly and mildly bitter with a slightly dry finish that kept me wanting my next sip. It had enough fresh hop character to let me know it’s fresh hop without being harsh. Overall this beer would have benefited from more carbonation, but it was a great beer considering the brewer was working within the parameters of a gluten free product.
