Pours a bright yellow-gold color, somewhat cloudy. Medium-sized white head of fine foam. Moderate lacing, decent retention. I should probably look up why the different malt selections seem to have created differences in appearance. Grainy, malty aroma. Fairly clean. Very light caramel. It's mostly just simply sweet malt sugariness. Mild lemons and a bit of grassiness. The taste is primarily clean, sugary malt. There's a touch of sourness around the edges and in the finish, but it's a light husky, grainy sourness, pleasant and refreshing. The finish has a soft hop note with a grassy, lemony twist. Mouthfeel is lightly effervescent, mild prickliness. This one has a mild but full malt flavor. It's easy to drink and awfully close to a lot of simple pilsners that are around. Still, it's a pleasant beer and fun to try a clear expression of the malt flavor, even if it's a familiar one.

Pale golden color with plenty of bubbles in the tall Pilsner glass. Coarse but big head adds to the attractive appearance. An abundance of carbonation on the tongue. Aroma is cereal with a little cookie dough and a musty hint.

Taste starts with a graham cracker note. It's strangely sweet and grainy, followed by some resiny hops. Aftertaste is a little astringent. But it's not really hoppy, just that herbal tea bitterness that fades away. Overall this is bready and spritzy, with a hint of lime rind. Brewer notes the IBUs are just 16, which seems low for a Witbier, much less any kind of Pilsner. It has plenty of flavor, just not the standard profile for the style.

I can't improve on the review by rawfish-- the flavor details seem right on to me. It's an intriguing oddball brew and drinkable enough. From the 500 ml bottle purchased for $4.59 at Bine & Vine in San Diego.

From the Cismontane single malt series using all pilsner malt from Best Malz, sampled alongside the vienna and dark munich variants.

With crackling carbonation the pilsner pours with opaque with light straw coloration, forming a small white half finger head. Poor retention and no lacing gets stuck to the glass.

Doughy malt, some grainy husks and a sour mash note that brings crispness back into the aroma. Backing of lemony and bright grassy hops and popcorn to finish.

Clean, crisp malt character, a bit grainy and doughy but overall it lifts from the palate. Hops add a lemongrass and straw flavor, there is a tart flash to finish which leaves the mouth to water.

Average carbonation but the body of this beer is sluggish and heavy. The sour note while adding brightness to the flavor also drenches the palate removing the crispness of the pilsner malt. Alcohol is a non factor but finishing this one in a vertical with the other variants is a challenge.

Of the single malt series I liked this one the best, the clean pilsner malt is balanced with grain, dough and biscuity sweetness and the hops are allowed to balance. I am not sure how the tart finish is imparted, perhaps the brewery's yeast is adding that element.
