Definitely had hallmarks of the different styles the beer purported to contain. Definitely smelled cherries and a certain kind of tartness, which reflected in the taste though I thought the sour nature of the taste was a bit underwhelming. Coming through more was the imperial stout characteristics, the bourbon and sour cherry features could've definitely had more presence. Cellaring perhaps could give a spin on the taste.

Pours black with medium khaki head that firm but relatively quick to fade.

Nose is a light oak, fruit, cocoa tone but pretty feint.

Mouth feel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Flavor profile is an almost tart or lightly sour charcoal. There are actually lemon tones in the back palate and finish that simply makes this a bit weird.

Finish is sour coffee/sour "black" tones.

500ml bottle served in a sifter. Pours jet black with a thin tan head. Nose is light bourbon and dark fruit. Taste is bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate and coffee. There is only a slight hint of funk. A decent BA stout but misses on the sour.

Gets better as it warms. Early on it's more sour than stout. Once they balance out, it's very good. Recommended.

500 ml bottle, no bottling date that I could find. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, tart dark fruit and chocolate. I think the taste is pretty similar to the aroma, but there's also some berries and woody flavors noticeable. There isn't a lot of sourness in this brew at this point, but still enough to make it interesting. It is a tasty imperial stout! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating, smooth and easy enough to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I enjoyed this brew, might have to pick up some more of this soon. $11.99 a bottle.

Black, thick, complex, delicious. The bourbon aroma and taste is strong but not overpowering. There is minimal sourness. It is not a tart kind of sour, but has a little funk to it to that keeps you interested. I could see a lot of people being thrown off by this beer, but as someone who loves sours, stouts, and bourbon, this was a home run.

Look: spot on classic imperial stout

Smell: nothing but bourbon. No sour aroma at all. Makes me worried.....

Taste: if this was just a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout it would be world class. But it's not, it's supposed to be sour. Not even a hint of sourness. No idea what they were thinking by calling this a sour. Very disappointing.

Feel: i repeat, if this wasjust a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout it's world class. Way to much body for "sour" beer. So much heavier than it should be.

Overall: 2nd beer I've had from Cismontane. The other being the "Brut De Sauvin". Both are nothing line what was advertised. Starting to think these guys have no clue what they are doing. If this was just a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout it would be amazing, however it's not. Hard for me to give this beer high marks since it misses so badly. These guys need to get serious about their craft, because they command big dollars for terrible beer. I want my money back for both beers. Patiently awaiting a check for $28.00 dollars.
