Two versions of this beer were made with different yeast strains. My pint was from the pilsner yeast strain (the other used a South German strain). On-tap at the source, on to the beer:
Muddy tan appearance in the glass (it makes me wonder if this beer was filtered or not), the head of this one sits an inch thick before shrinking into a paper-thin lace. The nose is a mix of pilsner characteristics (grassy, haylike) and an unexpected, but pleasant cinnamon apple aroma. On the palate, this beer is sweet and grassy, so it's a little slower going down the hatch. The important aspect is flavor, and the flavor is fine. Sweet, spiced apple flavor as the base, with brushings of spicy hops, and straw/grassy components round it out.
Enjoyable though sometimes rough. A mass might be too much, a half-liter stein would be perfect.
