Brewed with prickly pear cactus (nopal) and a Hefeweizen yeast. On tap at El Take it Easy in San Diego. Beautiful foamy cap on the extremely tall Pilsener glass. cloudy amber. One thing I've never seen-- the lacing is so persistent it leaves rings in the glass marking each sip with a line of foam.
Fruity, citrus aroma. Very tart, in fact it's almost sour. You might think this was brewed with some lime juice instead of cactus. The green paddles of the nopal instead of the sweet fruit, apparently. This does have that fruity odd flavor, so maybe there are some of the tart unripe pears in the batch.
It's hard to find fault with this, even with such an unusual flavor. Makes me think of green papaya. Virtually no hop flavor. Brewery says this is part of the Mexican Summer Series.

On tap at the Better Weather Fest at Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, yeast, fruits, and some slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with a cantaloupe-like fruity flavor on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is tasty and refreshing.
