2018 bottle
A: Easily one of the best looking beer I've had. Pours a typical brown color for the genre but the head is a very nice tan colored, creamy looking with a ton of volume and by FAR the best retention I've seen so far. The head stayed on for at least 1.5 hours, I've never seen that before.
S: Smell is pretty light. It's a weird one. You get sour cherries, dates, plum, a medicinal peat smoke, menthol, leather, oak and pepper. I don't get any vanilla as I would expect from a bourbon barrel aged beer. It's interesting but it seems like it lacks cohesion, which is surprising considering the time it aged in the bottle.
T: Very fruity with tart cherries, dates and plums. Moves into a medicinal peat, menthol and again leather, oak and pepper. Very little residual sugars. No tannins either. It's weird, lack cohesion but too interesting to get a low score.
M: Very light considering the very high ABV. Medium carbonation, no stickiness.
O: This tastes and drinks like a 6-7% beer. Other than the warming effect, I could not guess the high ABV. It's very weird and at the same time feels very much old school.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown color ale with a large dark foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light dry fruits notes with some woody notes of vanilla and bourbon is quite enjoyable. Taste is a mix of roasted malt notes with some dry figs and raisins notes, some vanilla, woody and bourbon notes. Body is pretty full with good carbonation and with light warming alcohol notes. Solid nightcap beer and something that should be brewed on a more regular basis.
