16oz can, served in a Samuel Smith pint glass. No date.
Appearance: Mostly clear golden yellow. Lots of carbonation coming up through the beer. Thick persistent white head with some thick strands of persistent lacing. Good looking beer.
Smell: Definitely smells like peaches and ginger at first - and quite strongly when first poured. But with time and a bit of warm up I only smell fresh peaches with some underlying funk that takes away from that fresh peach smell.
Taste: This was given to me as a gift, and I'll admit up front that I'm not a big fan of sour beers, but, I'm game for trying them as I get surprised from time to time. Quite tart, and I'm getting no peach at all. I can get the sour like it's a bit of a sour patch kid candy, and no ginger either. There is some lingering grainy/cereal taste at the finish which is probably the red wheat malt they talk about on the can. I'm not getting any hops either.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, dry finish, with that sour "twang" in the back of the throat.
Overall / Drinkability: I failed the acid test - I could not finish this. Worth a try and there are parts of this beer that work, but I think you have to be a fan of sour beers to really enjoy this.
